A 37-year-old Chester Hill man was sentenced on Monday to four years in prison for his role in a multimillion-dollar fraud targeting Australia's disability support and taxation systems, Qazinform reports. Parramatta District Court ordered him to repay A$30,675 to the Commonwealth following his December 2025 guilty verdict for fraud and dealing with proceeds of crime.

His sentencing concludes Operation Pegasus, an investigation that uncovered a syndicate using three companies to siphon funds from the National Disability Insurance Scheme through false claims and fraudulent tax refunds. Six people have now received combined prison sentences totaling 31 years and four months for their involvement in the scheme.

AFP Detective Superintendent Peter Fogarty said in a statement that the case demonstrated authorities would continue pursuing criminals regardless of the duration of an investigation. "Criminal activity which seeks to exploit systems that support the community's most vulnerable is an affront to hard-working Australians who are doing the right thing," he said.
