South African police are handing over six Nigerian nationals to FBI agents on Friday for alleged online romance scams targeting US women. The group is accused of defrauding more than 100 victims of over 100m rand, according to South African authorities.

The suspects were arrested in 2021 and are believed to be members of the Black Axe crime syndicate. They face wire fraud and money-laundering charges upon arrival in the United States, Hawks spokesperson Col. Katlego Mogale said in a statement, BBC reports.
