Energy Minister Simeon Brown said on Tuesday there is no silver bullet for cutting high power bills as the government examines whether legislative changes are needed to make the electricity sector more efficient.

Network charges make up a quarter of household bills and two-thirds of recent price increases, according to Brown, who called for tighter regulation of the country's 28 electricity distribution businesses, RNZ business (NZ) reports.
