Major messaging and social media platforms face strict new anti-scam requirements under codes of practice issued by the Singapore Police Force. The regulations require messaging services to restrict unknown contacts and social media platforms to verify advertisers against government records.

Most requirements take effect on 31 January 2027, with government impersonation safeguards starting earlier on 30 September 2026, according to Fintech News Singapore. Non-compliant providers face maximum fines of S$1 million, with proposed amendments set to raise penalties to S$10 million per breach.
