Some Singapore couples are filing sham divorces to shield assets from creditors, the Straits Times reported.

The couples claim to be broke after transferring all assets to their spouses, according to the paper.

Marriages of convenience are normally used for residency, but the report says the practice is now being used to evade debt obligations.
