Two West Australian men were charged on 26 August 2026 with a combined total of 14 offences following a joint investigation by the Australian Federal Police and the Western Australia Police Force, working alongside the FBI, Mirage News reports.

Police allege the men were principal participants in a cybercrime syndicate that inserted malicious code into open-source software repositories, potentially compromising more than 1,000 organisations globally and enabling the theft of over 500,000 credentials.
