Global payment processor Nuvei will pay $4.85 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that the firm facilitated merchant fraud, the FTC said on Tuesday.

The company was alleged to have opened and maintained payment processing accounts for merchants engaged in deception, including tech support scams that took millions of dollars from consumers, according to the FTC press release, FTC press (US consumer protection) reports.
