US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that negotiations with Tehran will begin Monday after he decided to hold off on planned military strikes in pursuit of a diplomatic deal, according to Al Jazeera, AFP and Reuters.

"Now what we're doing is talking to them in the form of a negotiation. It begins tomorrow afternoon," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. He said Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar had urged him to delay the strikes, and that deals were possible on the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program.

Trump pulled back from attack threats on Saturday after saying the "perimeter" of a deal was in place. He gave no details about the venue or participants in the talks. Earlier Sunday, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a second phone call with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, joined by Pakistani Army Commander Asim Munir, to discuss diplomatic efforts, according to Araghchi's post on Telegram.
