Former US Ambassador to the UAE Barbara Leaf has warned that escalating US-Iran tensions deliver no decisive outcome, telling Al Jazeera the approach is "fairly pointless".

Leaf said de-escalation and direct negotiation are the only ways to prevent wider regional conflict.
