Greg Sadler said Australia must have access to advanced AI models in order to protect itself against threats posed by those same technologies.

He said:

“We're in a situation now where you need to have access to frontier models to defend from other frontier models. So this model access question has to be coming before.”

Sadler connected this point to discussions in June between Anthropic and the Department of War over who should be granted access to frontier models, noting that the question of model access now has added urgency.
