Sadler says Australia needs frontier AI access to defend against frontier model threats

Greg Sadler said Australia faces a catch-22 situation where defending against advanced AI requires access to the same advanced technology.
Sadler said:
“You need to have access to frontier models to defend from other frontier models.”
Sadler pointed to discussions between Anthropic and the Department of War about model access, saying the question of which entities get that access must be settled before Australia can properly secure critical infrastructure like banks and the power grid.
