Andrew Wilkie, an independent MP, said on ABC News Australia that notification protocols need to be tightened to prevent delays in reporting future security incidents.

He said:

“It shouldn't have taken services Australia as much as a day to let ASD know of this. So hopefully this is a call to arms.”

Wilkie called the breach an opportunity to improve the speed and coordination of Australia's response to such incidents.
