Andrew Wilkie, the independent MP, said on ABC News Australia that Australia risks having its critical infrastructure breached unless it prepares now for threats posed by artificial intelligence.

He said:

“Otherwise our systems will be breached. So you're calling for strict regulations, robust guidelines. What is that actually?”

Wilkie said Australia must stop reacting to security incidents and instead take a proactive approach, mobilising all available resources to prepare for the challenges of the new age.
