Andrew Wilkie, the independent MP, told ABC News Australia that Australia must build the strongest possible defences to protect critical infrastructure as AI technology becomes impossible to control globally.

He said:

“Hence we've got to make our systems as robust as possible. mentioned earlier, even using AI against itself to help defend ourselves. It's a really, really tough technical job ahead of us.”

Wilkie expressed optimism that Australia has the capability to meet the challenge, despite describing it as one of the most difficult technical problems ahead.
