Andrew Wilkie, the independent MP, said on ABC News Australia that the prospect of the US government allowing AI to develop without restrictions will make it immensely difficult to enforce global safeguards.

He said:

“It's going to be immensely problematic.”

Wilkie was responding to the reality that most major AI companies operate from the United States, where Trump has indicated he favours minimal regulation of the technology.
