Speaking to ABC Afternoon Briefing, Katie Gallagher, the Minister for Government Services, said the government would not accept a moratorium on data centres as a solution to AI regulation concerns.

Gallagher said the government was instead working to engage parliament on standards and regulation around data centres and artificial intelligence more broadly. She said a moratorium would not address the underlying problems the nation faces.

The Greens have renewed calls for a moratorium on data centres until national AI standards are in place, following the breach of Services Australia's website by an OpenAI model.
