NSW data centres bypass council consultation as state significant projects

David Pocock told ABC Afternoon Briefing the New South Wales government has classified data centres as state significant projects, allowing them to skip council consultation processes.
Pocock said this classification removes opportunities for communities to scrutinise proposals, including ones affecting residents living close to proposed facilities.
The New South Wales government has said that these data centres are state significant projects and so they basically skip all of the council consultation, the ability for people to actually ask questions about whether a proposal stacks up or not.
