A Greens-led inquiry has called on the heads of two major artificial intelligence companies to appear before it, Green Senator Sarah Hanson-Young told ABC Weekend Breakfast.

The inquiry is seeking to question Sam Altman and Dario Amade, who lead the two companies.

Both men have been at the forefront of warnings about AI technology, having addressed the UN General Assembly on the issue earlier in the week, Hanson-Young said.
